Reflections of Her Life
Mrs. Elnora “Miss Sadie” Ross-Palmer
Mrs. Elnora “Miss Sadie” Palmer, 88, of Hope, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 7, 1937, in Sprudell, Arkansas, Elnora was the daughter of Minnie Lee Ray and Elbert Wilson “E.W.” Ross.
Elnora was affectionately known throughout the community as “Miss Sadie,” a name that reflected her warmth, style, and grace—just like the woman herself. For many years, Miss Sadie worked in the cafeteria at Tyson Foods, where she was admired for her strong work ethic, welcoming smile, and the care she showed to everyone she met. She was a woman of grit, strength, deep faith, and timeless elegance.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, James Edward Burton, the loving father of all nine of her children; parents, Minnie L. Ray and E.W. Ross; husband, Albert Palmer; daughter, Sharonette Burton; grandson, Keith Burton; brothers, George and Cleophus Conway; sisters, Darlene Austin, Shirley Davis, Linda Morrison, and Benita Martin; sons-in-law, Eugene Hopson and Floyd Haney; daughter-in-law, Shaba Burton; brother-in-law, Grady Walton Jr.
Elnora leaves to cherish her memory nine children: Sandra Hopson, Yvonne Green-Haney, Rene Brooks, Sylvia Hopson, James Burton Jr., Demetrius and her husband Bobby Dixon, Fredrick Burton, and Chundra and her husband Demco Gill. Also left to treasure her legacy are her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters Ruthie (Columbus) Coleman, Mary Samey, Elaine Walton, and Annie Conway, along with a host of nieces, nephews, close relatives, and friends.
